SEES in Sydney and Verona

Sydney, is Australia’s largest city with a greater metropolitan population of over 5 million located on a vast natural harbour on the Eastern seaboard of Australia. The city is well known for it’s natural beauty, outdoor lifestyle and diverse population.

The SEES Otology Fellowship is a 12 month Fellowship combining clinical and research components and commencing February each year. The successful candidate will have lab space at the Kolling Deafness Research Centre, Kolling Institute, University of Sydney Northern Campus at St Leonards, NSW Australia.

The first 11 months are based in Sydney and the final Month January will be spent at the University of Verona, with Professor Daniele Marchioni observing Endoscopic Lateral Skull Base surgery.  The Fellow will be trained with the SEES Endoscopic Ear Surgery curriculum in a step wise manner.

The fellow will be exposed to general otology, neurotology and cochlear implantation work with a heavy focus on Endoscopic Ear surgery. All four surgeons are active in the technique of Endoscopic Ear Surgery with combined operating experience filling an average of 3 full days. Most of the operative experience is at North Shore Private and Macquarie University Hospitals. The Fellow is also expected to attend Public Hospital Otology lists and outpatients clinics at Royal North Shore Hospital. Exposure to over 200 Endoscopic Ear Cases can be expected during the 10 months.

The remaining time is dedicated to research activities involving the SEES prospective database and Endoscopic Ear Surgery.  There are no on call requirements for the position.

The Fellowship is funded via private assistance fees. For Non Australian Applicants, to apply for Australian registration to allow assistance fees to be billed the Fellow will need to meet the requirements on the right.
